Local Roots & Decades of Expertise
Captain David Stamatis is a licensed Captain with the United States Coast Guard (Reference No. 3006779). He has spent his entire life fishing the waters of Cape Cod Bay and Massachusetts Bay.
With family ancestry rooted in the Town of Wellfleet, Dave is a year-round resident with a unique understanding of how to successfully harvest game fish and bottom fish in this region—it all boils down to local knowledge.

- Safety Certified: Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Drug-Free Vessel: Member of the Maritime Consortium Drug Free Vessel Program.
- Community Leadership: Member of the Wellfleet Marina Advisory Committee and Sustainable Cape.

The Vessel: D-Tails
Captain Dave owns and operates the D-Tails, a federally documented 29′ Webbers Cove Lobster Boat inspected and certified annually by the U.S. Coast Guard for safety and equipment.
- Specs: 29 ft LOA, 10 ft 4 in Beam, powered by a 225 HP John Deere engine.
- Comfort: Features a fully enclosed head with a holding tank.
- Intimacy: All trips are strictly limited to 6 fishermen to ensure space, comfort, and maximum “bottom time” for fishing.
